Upgrade

Step 1: Find the version

lsb_release -a

Step 2: Modify sources.list

a) If Ubuntu raring…

sudo sed -i 's/raring/trusty/g' /etc/apt/sources.list

b) or Ubuntu saucy

sudo sed -i 's/saucy/trusty/g' /etc/apt/sources.list

Step 3: Update and upgrade

sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get install --only-upgrade bash

Step 4: Restore sources.list

a) If Ubuntu raring…

sudo sed -i 's/trusty/raring/g' /etc/apt/sources.list

b) or Ubuntu saucy

sudo sed -i 's/trusty/saucy/g' /etc/apt/sources.list
